KU Relays today! We got to the track around 10:30 and my race was at 1:10. At 12:15 I went down and checked in. I warmed up for 1.5 instead of 2 because I wanted to be sure I was ready to go on time. Did drills on the warmup track and switched into my spikes.

Got out in the middle of the pack but picked my way through. Came through the first lap in 73 and first 800 in 2:29. After we saw that we started picking it up. 68 for the next lap and 4:49/4:50 for the first mile. A group of 5 of us started to break away after the fifth lap. Coming through the 6th lap I was in 3rd and with 600 to go there was a move made by the eventual winner where he slightly cut me off on the inside... no big deal though as he had been getting his heels clipped most of the race. At the same time another guy moved around us and caught up to the leader. I ran a 63 last lap to finish 4th in 9:25.12, making my splits 4:50 and 4:35. The race felt awesome and it was a blast! Cooled down for .5 because I had the DMR in a little more than an hour and I wanted to get into the shade.

The DMR didn't go so well... I guess I wasn't recovered enough from the 32 and I ended up splitting a 4:40. It also had gotten pretty hot outside since the 32 so that didn't help. We ended up getting 9th so we still got medals though. Cooled down for 2 on the soccer field and watched the other races.
